Utah State football fell to No. 22 Boise State 37-18 in its first-ever Pac-12 game on Saturday night at Albertsons Stadium, according to a report published October 3.
The loss dropped the Aggies to a 1-4 record, while Boise State moved to 4-1 and 1-0 in conference play.
Graduate running back Javen Jacobs recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game, finishing with 139 yards on 10 carries. He also contributed four yards and a touchdown on three receptions. Graduate wide receiver Eli Wood achieved his first career 100-yard receiving game, totaling 102 yards on seven catches along with one touchdown.
Graduate quarterback Grady Brosterhous completed 12 of 18 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback McCae Hillstead finished with 47 yards on two completions out of seven attempts and one interception. Other offensive contributors included graduate wide receiver Anthony Garcia with 21 yards, sophomore running back Noah White with 27 yards, and a junior tight end with 22 yards.
The Aggie defense was led by senior safety Brevin Hamblin and junior linebacker Asher Cunningham, who both recorded 11 tackles. Cunningham also added a forced fumble. Junior safety Chapman Lewis and junior cornerback D'Angelo Mayes tied for the team lead with nine tackles each, while Mayes added a pass breakup.
Senior linebacker Jordan Pendleton recorded the lone sack for Utah State. Graduate cornerback Bobby Arnold and senior linebacker Adonis Jackson each recorded 0.5 tackles-for-loss during the contest.
Utah State's scoring included a one-yard touchdown reception from Brosterhous to Jacobs following a 75-yard drive. A 28-yard field goal from senior Kian Afrookhteh provided the team's other points in the first half. In the second half, Brosterhous connected with Wood for a 31-yard touchdown following a fumble recovery by sophomore cornerback Markie Grant.
Utah State returns to Maverik Stadium for its first Pac-12 home game against Washington State on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. (MT). The game will be broadcast on the CW.
