Nearly 150 personnel are working to fight the Buck Basin Fire, which has burned approximately 230 acres and is 15% contained. According to Utah Fire Info, the lightning-caused fire is located about five miles northwest of Currant Creek Reservoir.
Thunderstorms moved across the Heber-Kamas Ranger District on Tuesday, providing much-needed rain to the fire area. Crews plan to utilize Wednesday's anticipated showers and thunderstorms to remove hazardous snags, reinforce the line, and perform mop-up operations where it is safe.
As of Monday evening, officials stated there were no threats to communities or structures. However, smoke from the fire remains visible from Highway 35, Highway 40, and the surrounding area. Utah Fire Info advised the community not to report the visible smoke.
Red Creek Mountain Road and Low Pass Road remain closed to the public due to fire activity.
