Travis Konecny recorded a goal and an assist in his first game since missing more than three weeks with an injury as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-3 on Sunday.
Konecny, who missed 10 games due to a lower-body injury, scored his first goal of the season at 1:06 of the second period by banking a shot off Utah goalie Karel Vejmelka to give Philadelphia a 2-1 lead.
Konecny later assisted Christian Dvorak on a one-timer from the high slot to extend the Flyers' lead to 4-1. In addition to his scoring contributions, Konecny recorded four hits.
Matvei Michkov scored the first goal for Philadelphia, recording his 10th goal of the season by snapping a shot past Vejmelka. Michkov became the first Flyer to score 10 goals in his first 17 games of a season since Konecny achieved the feat in 2023.
Other scoring contributors for the Flyers included Dvorak and Noah Cates, who each finished with a goal and an assist, and Oliver Bonk, who added a goal. Cole Knuble secured the win for Philadelphia with an empty-net goal.
The Utah Mammoth goals were provided by Dmitri Simashev, Mikhail Sergachev, and Logan Cooley. Cooley scored his eighth goal of the season with an extra attacker on the ice.
Karel Vejmelka made 15 saves for the Mammoth, while Dan Vladar made 19 saves for the Flyers to help Philadelphia snap a three-game winless streak (0-2-1).
The Flyers' victory marks a turnaround for the team, which had previously been winless in its last three games. The Mammoth have alternated wins and losses over their previous eight games.
The Mammoth will continue their six-game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday night.
