Ashley Regional Medical Center has welcomed Don Messick, MD, to its medical staff as a general surgeon, according to a statement released August 20, 2026. Dr. Messick's arrival is expected to expand access to high-quality surgical care for patients throughout the Uintah Basin and reduce the need for residents to travel outside the area for medical services.
Dr. Messick completed his surgical residency at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine and received his undergraduate education from Brigham Young University. His training includes experience at a robotic and hernia center of excellence.
Alan Olive, CEO of Ashley Regional Medical Center, stated that Dr. Messick's commitment to patient-centered care and surgical training makes him a valuable addition to the team. Olive noted that expanding access to quality surgical care remains a priority as the community grows.
Dr. Messick expressed honor in joining the Basin community and stated that his goal is to provide compassionate, high-quality surgical care while helping patients stay close to their community.
