Utah’s mountains receive above-normal rain; reservoirs still lacking
Utah’s mountains have benefitted from this year’s monsoon season, receiving 3 inches of rain in August. Overall water availability, which relies heavily on snowpack, is significantly below normal. In the Wasatch Back, many are still above 50% capacity, with the exception of Echo, Rockport and Stateline reservoirs in Summit County.

Dozens of Utah black bears killed as drought impacts food supply
Rocky Mountain wildlife experts say a drought-diminished food supply has increased the number of bear interactions and deaths across the region. As of late August, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources reported biologists and law enforcement agencies had responded to nearly 170 bear incidents.
