Saigon Supermarket, a family-owned and operated Asian grocery store located at 1789 W. Carriage Square, provides a wide range of authentic Vietnamese and other Asian products. The store has experienced exponential growth in its number of customers since opening several years ago, according to a notice on the Taylorsville website.
Owner and manager Charlie Nguy stated that the business has grown significantly due to his experience running a restaurant prior to opening the supermarket. Nguy noted that while the initial stages of running the store were difficult, the business has improved with more experience.
Nguy explained that the availability of Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laos, and Chinese foods, among other Asian items, allows for a diverse demographic of returning customers. He also noted that storefronts like Saigon Supermarket and Café Thảo Mi have helped build a core Vietnamese demographic and have attracted more businesses to the Carriage Square area.
Saigon Supermarket is open every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. City officials noted that a ribbon cutting event is planned for this spring to celebrate the completion of renovations at the Carriage Square shopping center.
