The Smithfield temple was announced by President Nelson on April 4, 2021. The groundbreaking for the site occurred on June 18, 2022. Utah currently has 32 temples that are operating, under construction, announced, or undergoing renovation.
Other temples in Utah include the Ephraim temple, which has a dedication scheduled for Oct. 11, and the Heber Valley temple, which is currently in the construction phase. Four other temples are in the planning and design stages: West Jordan, Lehi, Price, and Spanish Fork.
