Gary Lamar Loveland, a retired Logan City Fire Department firefighter and United States Army veteran, passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 88. Loveland died peacefully in his sleep following a short battle with a rare disease.
Born on November 21, 1937, in Fish Haven, Idaho, Loveland was the son of William Earl and June Wilkes Loveland. He was raised alongside his brother, Garth. In 1958, he married Linda Rose King, with whom he spent nearly 68 years. The couple was sealed in the Logan LDS temple on June 24, 1964.
Loveland served on active duty in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He had a 20-year career as a firefighter for the Logan City Fire Department before retiring in 1984. Additionally, he was a mechanic who operated a business with his brother and worked as the general maintenance man at the Best Western Weston Inn for 12 years. He was known for his passion for traveling the country on his motorcycle.
Loveland is survived by his wife, Linda Rose; children Lamar Earl Loveland, Garry Lynn Loveland, Jana Waite, Tara Wiser, Jara Priestley, and Kama Larum; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two dogs, Presley and Kandee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Tana Junell Worthen, his brother Garth, his sister-in-law Connie Loveland, and his granddaughter Trista Lee Ferrier.
Funeral services were held on July 23, 2026, at Cache Valley Mortuary, including a viewing, family prayer, and funeral service. Interment followed with a procession to Fish Haven Cemetery.
