The New Orleans Saints named Kellen Moore as the 19th head coach in franchise history on Feb. 11, 2025. Moore joined the organization following a Super Bowl LIX victory with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he served as offensive coordinator during their 2024 World Championship campaign.
In his first season leading the team, Moore guided the Saints from a 2-10 start to winning four of their final five games. The team achieved an undefeated record in December, marking the first time the franchise went undefeated in that month since 2011 and only the third time in club history.
Moore implemented an offensive scheme designed to utilize the abilities of rookie quarterback Tyler Shough. Under this system, Shough completed 221-of-327 passes for 2,384 yards and ten touchdowns, while also leading the team in rushing touchdowns to earn PFWA All-Rookie honors.
The offense also featured high-performing receiving targets including Chris Olave, who earned AP All-Pro honors, and Juwan Johnson. Both players recorded at least 850 receiving yards during the season.
The coaching staff successfully integrated five rookies into starting or important rotational roles. On the defensive side, Quincy Riley and Jonas Sanker earned All-Rookie honors.
The defense finished the season with notable statistical rankings, including ninth in opponent net yards per game, fourth in pass defense, and sixth in opponent rushing yards per play.
A 14-year NFL veteran, Moore played quarterback for six seasons between 2012 and 2017 before entering coaching in 2018. He previously served as an offensive coordinator for six campaigns from 2019 to 2024.
