Utah Military Academy has released a newsletter outlining upcoming school activities and academic expectations for the remainder of the semester. The announcement includes information on the Veterans Day breakfast, fundraising opportunities, and final examination schedules.
Student Body Officers will host a breakfast for cadets and their veteran family members on Wednesday, November 11, followed by the annual Veterans Day assembly. Additionally, a citrus fruit fundraiser is currently underway, offering 20 lb boxes of oranges, grapefruits, or clementines directly from California farms. Orders for the fundraiser must be placed by November 16, with deliveries scheduled for the second week of December.
Academic preparations are also underway for end-of-semester final examinations. These exams are scheduled to take place from Monday, December 14, through Thursday, December 17. While the exams are mandatory for most, sixth-grade cadets are exempt from these tests. High school finals will count for 10% of the overall course grade, while junior high finals will account for 5%.
Athletic updates include a football game scheduled for Friday, October 30, at 4:00 PM against Monticello. The school also noted recent success in cross country, where several athletes achieved personal records during the state meet held on October 28. For students interested in basketball or wrestling, registration must be completed through Register My Athlete, and tryouts for both sports are scheduled for November 9.
The academy recently completed a JROTC inspection, which Principal Sullivan noted was successful. The school also recently partnered with the Lehi Police Department for drug-detection training with local and regional K-9 teams to assist in campus safety efforts.
Parents and guardians are reminded that students must be checked out in person by a parent or guardian, even if the student is 18 years old. For questions regarding the newsletter, individuals can contact the school via email at hwagaman@utahmilitaryacademy.org.
