The Morgan County Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 34 of the Morgan County Code, according to an Oct. 17 notice.
The hearing, which is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., will focus on establishing administrative rules and procedures governing the Morgan County Board of Equalization.
The proposed amendment to Chapter 34 seeks to implement several administrative changes. This includes the establishment of a regular annual property valuation appeal filing period that would run from Aug. 1 through Sept. 15, including any extensions or exceptions required by Utah law.
Additionally, the amendment addresses the administrative authority of the Morgan County Auditor regarding the methods, format, and procedures for submitting appeals, subject to state law. The proposal also covers application requirements, the processing of appeals, hearings, and determinations made by the Board of Equalization.
All proposed changes are intended to comply with applicable Utah statutes and the administrative rules of the Utah State Tax Commission.
The Morgan County Commission intends for the proposed code text amendment to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.
Interested individuals are invited to attend the hearing to provide oral public comment. Written comments may also be submitted to Kate Becker, Morgan County Administrative Manager and Zoning Administrator, until 24 hours before the scheduled hearing.
The public hearing will take place in the Morgan County Commission Chambers, located at 48 West Young Street, Morgan, Utah 84050.
For individuals requiring special accommodations during the meeting, the commission requests notification to Kate Becker at 435-800-8724 at least 24 hours before the event.
The meeting will not offer options for electronic or telephone participation.
