John Inadomi, MD, was inducted into the Association of American Physicians (AAP) during the organization's annual scientific meeting held in Chicago, Illinois. The AAP is an honorific, elected society established in 1885 that recognizes leading physician-scientists for sustained innovation and impact in advancing health.
In selecting Inadomi, the AAP highlighted his international reputation as a health services researcher specializing in randomized clinical trials and decision analytic modeling. His NIH-supported research and publications have influenced national guidelines for colorectal cancer and esophageal adenocarcinoma screening, including work from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, and have informed federal and commercial coverage decisions.
Inadomi is one of 72 physician-scientists elected to the AAP in 2026 and represents one of 14 current AAP members based in Utah.
Dr. Inadomi joined University of Utah Health in 2020 as the Jon M. Huntsman Presidential Chair and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. His academic background includes degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, San Francisco, with previous faculty appointments at the University of New Mexico, the University of Michigan, UCSF, and the University of Washington.
A gastroenterologist focused on comparative effectiveness research, Inadomi has led NIH-funded studies regarding mortality reduction in esophageal adenocarcinoma and colorectal cancer screening adherence. He is a past President of the American Gastroenterological Association and serves as an associate editor for both JAMA and Gastroenterology.
