Resolution BPW-2024-10 has been passed by the Big Plains Water and Sewer Special Service District Board to adjust several water-related fees. The resolution, which was passed on June 19, 2024, implements new rates that became effective July 1, 2024.
The District Board determined the adjustments were necessary to increase revenue for operational expenses, debt service, and meeting debt covenant obligations. The decision followed a public hearing on June 19 where the Board of Trustees considered public input regarding the proposed increases.
Changes to base rates and standby fees include:
3/4 inch: Increased from $49.00 to $75.00 per month
1 inch: Increased from $76.00 to $102.00 per month
1.5 inch: Increased from $94.62 to $141.93 per month
2 inch: Increased from $135.17 to $202.76 per month
3 inch: Increased from $368.34 to $552.51 per month
4 inch: Increased from $827.93 to $1,241.90 per month
Usage fee modifications include an increase in Tier 6 rates from $2.75 to $3.25 per thousand gallons. Additionally, the District established new tiers for higher usage levels: Tier 7 at $4.00, Tier 8 at $5.00, and Tier 9 at $7.00 per thousand gallons.
Other fee adjustments include a doubling of the Bulk Meter Usage Fees from $4.00 to $8.00 per thousand gallons, and an increase in the Water Right Buy In Fee from $6,000 to $10,000.
