Utah resident Cade Mower earned a four-chair turn on The Voice Season 30 during a blind audition for a performance of Zach Bryan's 2022 hit "Something in the Orange," according to a September 30 report.
The 35-year-old performer, who described himself as a finance professional, father, and husband, impressed coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green.
During the audition, which aired on September 28, Mower's vocal performance led to a competitive recruitment process. Riley Green, a first-time coach on the program, utilized a signature strategy by putting on his cowboy hat to signal he meant business when pitching to Mower.
Green noted that Mower's choice of song suggested he was a lyrics-driven songwriter. The country star expressed that he saw a lot of himself in Mower and suggested the singer could potentially open for his next tour.
Mower, who balances his musical pursuits with a career in the financial sector, ultimately chose Riley Green as his coach. The decision followed a moment where Kelly Clarkson expressed surprise at Mower's professional background in finance.
Green stated after the decision that Mower possesses a tone that allows listeners to feel emotion. The singer's success on the show comes as part of Season 30's blind auditions.
New episodes of The Voice are scheduled to return on Monday, October 5 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
