The West Warren Park Board of Trustees held a meeting on July 13, 2026, to address park maintenance, governance actions, and future capital projects, according to a report published August 8.
During the meeting, the board approved minutes from previous work sessions and meetings. Financial actions included the approval of various warrants and checks, as well as a $1,000.00 donation for the Mosquito Days celebration. Jeff stated that a grant of $1,960.00 was received for the event, bringing the total budget to $2,960.00. It was noted that leftover funds may assist the rodeo committee.
Regarding park operations, the board noted that picnic tables have been sanded and painted and the wood chip project is complete. The board discussed replacing the wooden letters on the sign near the road, with Amy Coleman tasked to replace them for Reese Park. Additionally, the Third Riding Club is expected to select a project by the end of July for completion by the end of August.
A significant proposal was presented for arena lighting, which includes six light poles and a speaker system. The bid from Johnson Electric is $75,000.00. The board intends to apply for a RAMP grant, which could cover approximately 60% of the costs, requiring a 40% match from the park. Other potential capital projects include redoing the playground and creating a walking trail.
The board discussed the Master Plan, noting that all edits must be submitted by September 7th for approval on September 14th. The 2027 budget was set at $72,747.00. The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
