The Weber Fire District is expanding its commitment to community safety through a variety of educational programs that extend beyond emergency response. The District aims to equip residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, mitigate, and navigate potential hazards within the community.
The District offers several interactive opportunities, including station tours and attendance at community events. Residents interested in scheduling a tour can complete a Station Tour Request Form, while schools may use a specific School Visit Request Form. The District notes that because emergency response remains the priority, crews may be called out during scheduled tours, which could result in station closures.
For those seeking medical training, the Weber Fire District provides professional CPR and AED training. These courses, which cost $50 each, include Heartsaver, Hands only CPR, ACLS, BLS, and PALS. The Safety Brigade, a group of Weber Fire employees, works to instill safety awareness through school shows, special events, and social media presence. Additionally, the District provides resources for wildfire preparedness through the Utah Living with Fire program, offering tips on defensible space, home hardening, and evacuation planning.
Other community preparedness programs include Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), which trains citizens to manage their needs and assist others during the first 72 hours of a disaster. Furthermore, the American Red Cross is working to install free smoke alarms in the community via soundthealarm.org/Utah.
The Weber Fire District continues to offer various resources such as child safety seat checks, fire extinguisher maintenance information, and tools for wildfire risk reduction to ensure a more prepared and informed community.
