Utah State University Eastern has launched the Elevate Eastern Scholarship program to help remove financial barriers to higher education. The initiative is designed to enhance the student experience on the USU Eastern campus and provide direct impacts for students, the local community in Price and Helper Cities, Carbon County, and beyond.

The Elevate Eastern program will provide eligible students with financial support to assist with costs of attendance. These expenses can include tuition, fees, housing, food, books, academic supplies, and transportation. According to the university, USU Eastern students spend an average of twice as much on cost of attendance expenses as they do on tuition and fees.
Goals for regional economic impact
By addressing these financial barriers, the program seeks to drive enrollment growth at USU Eastern. The university stated that increasing the student population and enhancing the local trained workforce can support existing employers, attract new businesses, and help invigorates local economies. Furthermore, providing greater access to higher education is intended to help break the cycle of generational poverty within the region.
Eligibility requirements for student recipients
Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in courses taught on the USU Eastern campus. To be eligible, recipients must remain in good academic standing and be eligible to work in the United States. Both full-time and part-time students can receive up to $2,000 per academic year.
Donor options and endowment details
Donors have the option to support either expendable scholarships, which are awarded during the upcoming semester or academic year, or the Elevate Eastern Endowment, which is intended to support scholarships in perpetuity. Donors may also choose to name a scholarship to honor individuals, faculty, or companies.
Existing named scholarship contributors
Several scholarships have already been named through the program, including those from the Castle Gate Engineering, Emery Telcom, Komatsu Mining Corp Foundation, Peczuh Family, Peter V. Bunderson Memorial, Rocky Mountain Power Foundation, and the Shelton & Sharon Wakefield endowment.
