Bluff Mayor Josh Ewing announced that there is no reason to suspect the culinary water supply at Bluff Elementary has been contaminated following a flood, according to a October 29 statement. The announcement aims to address rumors regarding water safety at the school.
The mayor stated that the water supply is a pressurized system utilizing a pressurized aquifer. Following discussions with the president of Bluff Water Works, Marx Powell, officials reported there are no known contamination sources and no reason to believe the water is unsafe to drink or use.
San Juan County Public Health has collected water samples for testing to confirm these findings. Results from those tests were expected to be available within a couple of days of the October 29 announcement.
