Sleepy Ridge golf course in Orem celebrated the opening of The Range with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. The new facility features 32 covered, heated, and lighted hitting bays designed for year-round use.

The facility features Trackman technology in each bay, which allows golfers of various skill levels to track shots and play virtual courses or games. According to owner Golden Holt, the project evolved from an idea he had after visiting Black Desert golf course in Ivins a year ago.

In addition to the technology, the bays include real-turf mats, comfortable seating for groups, and full-service food and beverage options that can be delivered directly to the bays. Holt noted that the addition of heaters, lights, and covers is estimated to provide 1,560 more hours of golf availability annually at the course.

The construction of The Range utilized modular products from a company called Cover the Tee, which was sourced from Florida. While most bays are available for reservation in one-hour increments, two bays will be reserved during the day for golfers to use as warm-up stations at no extra cost.

Starting at 3 p.m., the facility will cater to families and groups. Holt expressed a goal of introducing a large portion of the Orem community to the game of golf through this new destination.

The development of The Range was completed in less than one year, a process Holt noted was significantly faster than the eight years required to design and build the original Sleepy Ridge golf course.

Golden Holt is providing introductory passes during October to invite neighborhoods and groups to experience the new facility.
