Spanish Fork Ranger District
The breathtaking 11,877-foot Mt. Nebo towers over the Spanish Fork Ranger District making it the highest peak along the Wasatch Front. The District is a popular destination due to its diversity of year-round recreation. The Mt. Nebo Scenic Byway is a popular favorite, offering fishing, family camping, scenic driving, arduous cycling, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and hiking. The district is also home to the Devil's Kitchen Geologic Interest Area, which is similar to Bryce Canyon National Park, but on a smaller scale. The district is named after the city of Spanish Fork that was named after the Spanish Fork River, which was originally El Rio de Aquas Calientes, "the River of Hot Water".Our boundaries of management include the Vernon unit to the west, the Nebo Scenic Loop, Mount Nebo Wilderness, and the Diamond Fork area that extends to the southern edge of Strawberry reservoir.

The closure is in place to provide for public health and safety due to flooding that has undercut the lower portion of the Santaquin Canyon road. The road is unsafe and could collapse under vehicle weight, and while heavy equipment and crews are working in the area to repair the road damage.The upper Santaquin Canyon road is closed above Trumbolt day-use site east approximately 1 ½ miles to Tinney Flat campground. All pedestrian, equestrian, bicycle, and any type of motorized vehicles will be prohibited, due to the extreme safety hazards in the area.
