The 2026 Garfield County Fair Open Exhibits program was scheduled to begin on August 1. The program offers adults, seniors, children, and professionals the opportunity to enter exhibits across a wide range of categories.
The categories for entry include artwork, photography, quilting, needlework, crafts, home goods, baked goods, farm goods, food preservation, horticulture, and special contests. Judging is conducted by a professional judge based on individual merit, with first, second, and third-place ribbons awarded at the judge's discretion.
According to the schedule, entries were accepted on August 1 and August 2 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm respectively, with artwork and photography entries required by Sunday. On Monday, August 3, entries for baked goods, farm goods, food preservation, home goods, crafts, horticulture, needlework, and quilting were accepted between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Judging for artwork, photography, and quilting was scheduled for 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, followed by judging for all remaining departments at 10:00 am. The exhibit hall was scheduled to be open for public viewing on August 5, August 6, and August 7 and 8.
On Thursday, August 6, the Commissioners’ Cookie Jar contest and Apple Pie contest entries were accepted between 10:00 am and 11:00 am, with judging for the cookie jars at 12:00 pm and apple pies at 12:30 pm.
The program concluded on Sunday, August 9, with entry pick up and premium payouts scheduled between 7:00 am and 11:00 am. Participants were advised that entries not picked up would forfeit premiums. For questions, the CSU Extension Office can be contacted at 970-625-3969.
