Snowbird is scheduled to return to the Freeride World Tour (FWT) in 2027, marking the Utah resort's return to the professional tour after more than a decade away. According to an October 29 statement, the resort will headline a milestone 20th edition of the tour.
The 2027 season will feature 53 riders competing for four FWT Champion titles. The calendar includes established venues such as Baqueira Beret in Spain, Fieberbrunn in Austria, and Xtreme Verbier in Switzerland, alongside Val Thorens in France and Mestia in Georgia. The competition consists of six stops, with athletes contesting four regular-season events. The best three results from these events will determine qualification for the FWT Finals.
The season opener is scheduled for Jan. 16-17, 2027, at the Baqueira Beret Pro in Spain on the Tuc de Bacivèr face. The second stop, the Val Thorens Pro in France, is scheduled for Jan. 25-26, 2027. The third stop, the Georgia Pro in Mestia, is scheduled for Feb. 20-21, 2027. The fourth stop, the Fieberbrunn Pro in Austria, is scheduled for March 3-9, 2027. Following these four events, the top 60% of riders will advance to The Cut to qualify for the Finals.
The first FWT Final of the season, the YETI Snowbird Pro by Stifel, is scheduled for March 16-17, 2027, at Mount Baldy in Snowbird, Utah. The season will conclude with the YETI Xtreme Verbier by Honda on March 27-28, 2027, at the Bec des Rosses in Switzerland.
Snowbird has a history of freeride competitions dating back to 1998 and last hosted the FWT in 2014. The resort has supported the development of the American freeride scene and has produced riders such as Ross Tester, Holden Samuels, and Hannah Baldwin.
