The Utah State Eastern men's soccer team secured a spot in the Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason tournament following a 2-2 draw against No. 8 North Idaho College on Thursday, according to a October 22 report.
By scoring twice in the second half, the Eagles rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn the draw against the Cardinals.
North Idaho College took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute, and extended that advantage to 2-0 in the 58th minute.
Noah Heil scored in the 72nd minute to cut the deficit and then scored again in the 76th minute to bring the score to a 2-2 tie. The Eagles finished the match with a 13-6 advantage in shots, outshooting the Cardinals.
The draw leaves Eastern in third place in the Scenic West standings with one regular season match remaining. The result will help determine the team's final seeding in the conference postseason tournament.
Eastern is scheduled to close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 24, against Pacific Northwest Christian College at Castleview Hospital Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The team will also honor its sophomores during the festivities.
