The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office has issued a statement following the death of Nicholas Rossi.
Rossi had been serving a sentence of five years to life at the Utah State Correctional Facility after being sentenced on October 20, 2025.
The legal proceedings against Rossi began on July 13, 2022, when the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office charged him with one count of first-degree felony rape.
A jury in the Third District Court convicted Rossi on August 13, 2025.
Salt Lake County Attorney Sim Gill stated that Rossi was a sexual predator who attempted to avoid accountability.
Gill noted that Rossi died in prison with the public knowledge of his guilt and said that survivors of his acts have consolation in the fact that he died with the knowledge of his crimes.
