A community survey is now available to collect public input on the Better Basin facility preview in Summit County. The survey is open to everyone, including those who are just learning about the effort or have followed the planning process from the beginning.
The proposed facilities would be funded through a general obligation bond. According to the survey information, for a home with a fair market value of $1,000,000, the proposed bond would add approximately $203 per year in annual property taxes. For the same valued home, total annual property tax for District debt repayment would be about $295 when including previous bonds.
Respondents are asked to share their reactions to various facility concepts, including options for supporting both locations, only Silver Creek, or only East Canyon. The survey also explores a potential phased approach where the District might use one bond measure to fund highest-priority elements followed by a subsequent measure to complete the plan.
Specific amenities listed for consideration include indoor lap and recreation/family pools and an indoor turf field at Silver Creek, as well as indoor climbing and indoor courts or gymnasiums at East Canyon. Participants can indicate if the absence of these features would change their potential vote.
Additional questions in the survey address usage frequency of The Fieldhouse, residency within the Snyderville Basin, and voter registration status in Summit County.
