The Harrisville City Council has announced plans to fill a mid-term council vacancy through an appointment process. In accordance with Utah Code §20A-1-510, the selected individual will serve as a member of the council until December 2027, completing the rest of the unexpired term.
Qualified candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements under Utah Code §10-3-301 and Utah Code §20A-9-203. Applicants must be registered voters within the municipality and have resided in the municipality for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the election date. For those residing in annexed territory, they must have lived in the annexed area or the municipality for the required 12-month period. Additionally, candidates must not have been convicted of a felony, treason, or certain related crimes.
Voter registration for candidates will be confirmed via Weber County Elections.
Interested individuals are required to submit an application to City Recorder Jack Fogal no later than July 1st at 5:00 PM. Applications can be delivered in person, by email, or by mail to the Harrisville City Recorder's office located at 363 W. Independence Blvd, Harrisville, UT 84404.
The interview and appointment process will take place during an open and public City Council Meeting on July 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The meeting is scheduled to be held in the Harrisville City Council Chambers at 363 W Independence Blvd. Officials anticipate that the City Council will make the appointment during this same meeting.
