The Babylon Fire is holding steady at 107,173 acres and has reached 82% containment, according to reports from July 18, 2026.
Located 25 miles southwest of Monticello in San Juan County, the fire was originally sparked by lightning on June 26.
The fire has resulted in the burning of five structures.
To combat the blaze, a total of 907 personnel have been assigned to the incident, consisting of 26 crews.
In an August 6 statement, the San Juan County Commission expressed support for the recent down-sizing of the Bears Ears National Monument. The commission noted the action is consistent with the Antiquities Act of 1906.
