The Bureau of Land Management announced decisions last month regarding water infrastructure and grazing permit renewals in Utah. The approvals included the rebuilding of a water well near Hanksville and the renewal of grazing allotments located southwest of Moab.
The BLM Richfield Field Office issued a decision record for the re-drilling of Water Well 91. Following an application from Moore Land & Livestock, the agency approved the project which involves re-drilling the existing well and installing a water tank and trough on the south side of Jeffrey Well Road.
The project is limited to the previously disturbed one-acre construction footprint that held the original well and troughs. As part of the process, the old well will be filled and capped for safety.
In a separate decision, the BLM Monticello Field Office authorized the renewal of grazing permit #4301140 issued to Cross Canyon Grazing Association, LLLP. This renewal covers the Lockhart and Hurrah Pass allotments.
The project area is located primarily within Bears Ears National Monument in San Juan County.
