Three kittens were found alive in storm debris following flash flooding in Beaver County, Utah, according to a September 11 report.
Residents assisted in the rescue of the animals, which were discovered among debris swept onto a residential property.
Renee Rubinger, a volunteer at the local animal shelter, said the kittens were handed to her in a box over a fence after being found in the debris. Rubinger described the kittens as being covered in clumped mud and ash.
Rubinger noted that the kittens appeared scared, hungry, and were crying when first seen. Because local stores were closed, Rubinger used social media to seek help for supplies like bottles and formula.
The kittens were eventually taken in by a resident who has a nursing mother cat to provide necessary care.
The rescue occurred amidst significant flooding in the area. The person who found the kittens reported that floodwaters rose to a window and that a dog drowned during the flooding.
