Real Salt Lake will face Liga MX top seed Club León in a Leagues Cup Quarterfinal on Tuesday, August 26, according to an August 24 statement. The match will take place at 8:30 p.m. MT at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
The contest marks a continuation of a three-game road swing for Real Salt Lake. A victory in Tuesday's match would allow the team to advance to a semifinal match on September 2 against the winner of the Toluca and Austin FC game. The semifinals are scheduled for September 1-2, with the third-place match and the Leagues Cup Final both set for Sunday, September 6. The top three finishers in the tournament will earn berths in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Real Salt Lake enters the quarterfinal stage following a dominant Phase One performance where they outscored three Mexican visitors 8-1. The club's recent performance includes back-to-back clean sheets in August against Atlante and Juarez. Rookie Sergi Solans enters the match with an active four-game scoring run and a season total of 13 goals.
The club has previously met Club León once before, in a 2023 Leagues Cup match where Real Salt Lake won 3-1.
