The Horse Head Fire in San Juan County grew to about 600 acres on Sunday after strong winds fueled additional fire activity, according to Utah Fire Info.
While afternoon mapping initially placed the fire at 475 acres, officials said severe winds later pushed the estimate to approximately 600 acres.
Firefighters worked to slow the spread of the blaze using nine fire engines, three water tenders, and support from air resources.
Officials stated that strong winds and limited firefighting resources slowed efforts to establish containment lines around the fire. At the time of the report, structures remained threatened by the fire.
