The state of Utah recorded a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.7 percent in May 2026, according to data from the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program. This figure reflects a 0.2 percent increase from the 3.5 percent rate reported in May 2025.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that for the month of May, unemployment rates decreased in six states, increased in two states, and remained stable in 42 states and the District of Columbia. Nationally, the unemployment rate stood at 4.3 percent, which was unchanged both over the month and over the year.
Looking at the year-over-year changes, sixteen states experienced jobless rate increases, while six states saw decreases. The remaining 28 states and the District of Columbia showed little change.
