The Timpanogos District of the Crossroads of the West Council continues to serve as a primary organizational hub for Scouts and leaders across Orem and several northern Utah counties, including Wasatch, Duchesne, and Uintah.
Timpanogos District Scope
As of July 19, 2026, the Timpanogos District maintains its specific service area covering Orem and all cities located north of that municipality. The district's jurisdiction also extends to include the entirety of Wasatch, Duchesne, and Uintah counties.
Council Structure and Oversight
The Timpanogos District operates as one of nine distinct geographical divisions within the broader Crossroads of the West Council. This council structure is designed to manage scouting activities across a vast region that spans parts of Utah, Southeastern Idaho, and Southwestern Wyoming.
District Responsibilities
According to the Crossroads of the West Council, each of its nine districts is defined by the Council's Executive Board. These districts are tasked with four fundamental responsibilities to ensure unit growth and success: membership, finance, program development, and unit service. This framework is intended to mobilize resources effectively so that Scouts receive necessary support within their local communities.
District Leadership
The Timpanogos District leadership includes District Chair Payden Butcher, District Commissioner Terry Richardson, and District Executive John Mills. Contact information for these officials is maintained to facilitate communication within the district's service area.
Regional Scouting Boundaries
The broader Crossroads of the West Council manages several other specialized districts alongside Timpanogos. These include the Jim Bridger District, which covers Wyoming counties such as Sweetwater, Sublette, Uinta, and southern Lincoln, along with Daggett County, Utah. The Silver Sage District serves a large portion of Utah County south of University Parkway/2200 N, as well as Juab, Sanpete, Carbon, Millard, Emery, Grand, and San Juan counties.
Additional Council Districts
Other council territories include the Old Ephraim District, covering Box Elder, Cache, and Rich Counties in Utah plus Franklin and Bear Lake Counties in Idaho. The Spanish Trails District manages Sevier, Beaver, Piute, Wayne, Iron, Garfield, Washington, and Kane counties in Utah. Meanwhile, the Wasatch Peaks District oversees Salt Lake County east of I-15 and Summit County.
Western and Northern Coverage
The council's western and northern reaches are managed by the Oquirrh Mountain District, which covers Tooele County and Salt Lake County west of I-15, the Thurston Peak District in Davis County, and the Weber Rapids District, which serves Morgan and Weber counties.
