Aiden Flora has been named the Big 12 offensive player of the week and the AP national player of the week following a standout performance for Iowa State, according to a Oct. 5 report. The 21-year-old running back contributed to the Cyclones' 45-42 victory over West Virginia on Oct. 3, 2026, at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.
During the Homecoming win against the Mountaineers, Flora became the first Big 12 running back to both rush and throw for multiple touchdowns in a single game. The 6-0, 195-pound former walk-on from Adel recorded 212 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries. He also completed two touchdown passes for 48 yards.
Flora's performance against West Virginia marks his second major rushing performance this season. He previously rushed for 194 yards against Bowling Green two weeks before the West Virginia game, giving him the top two rushing performances in the Big 12 this season.
The Iowa State Cyclones, coached by Jimmy Rogers, currently hold a 3-2 record and a 1-1 conference record. Flora's performance comes as the team prepares for upcoming competition.
Iowa State is scheduled to play No. 8 BYU in Provo, Utah, on Friday, Oct. 10, at 9:15 p.m. The BYU Cougars enter that matchup with a 4-0 record and a 2-0 conference record.
