Rocky Canyon Fire Henefer Community Meeting Info: Henefer residents and those impacted by the Rocky Canyon Fire are encouraged to attend an in person community update meeting to hear the latest information about the fire and response efforts. Sunday, August 9 at 7:00 PM

However, officials will be available for individual breakout discussions following the meeting. At this time, there have been no additional evacuation status changes in Summit County. August 9, 2026 | 8:30 AM UpdateThe Rocky Canyon Fire is estimated at 2,800 acres with 0% containment.The fire burned actively until approximately 2:00 AM. Today, crews will continue working to secure the fire perimeter using dozers, roads, line construction, and aviation resources.All closures and evacuation statuses remain the same as last night.Please stay away from the fire area so firefighters and other emergency personnel can safely do their work. East Canyon Reservoir is closed to boating, this includes paddle boards. Do not interfere with helicopters operations on the reservoir. This is a NO DRONE ZONE.

(8/8/26 - 9:30 PM) Hog Back Summit (Hwy 65/W East Canyon Road from the Summit County line to Henefer Road) is in a 'Ready' Status for possible evacuation from the Rocky Canyon Fire. Be prepared to evacuate. Please gather important documents, medicines, and an evacuation bag; prepare your vehicles and animals. Further information to come. Please do not call 911 for updates. We will follow up with more information as it is received.
