The BYU offensive line has been named to the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll for its outstanding play as an overall unit in 2026, according to a October 15 statement.
The Cougars are one of 25 teams being considered for the annual national award that recognizes the nation's most outstanding offensive line.
Coached by TJ Woods, the BYU offensive line leads the nation in fewest tackles for loss allowed, having surrendered just eight in five games. The unit is also tied for seventh in fewest sacks allowed, having given up just three on the year.
With the offensive line leading the way, the Cougars are currently ranked 17th in the nation in rushing, averaging 223.8 yards per game. BYU is also ranked 8th in yards per carry at 6.0 and 21st in touchdowns with 14.
The BYU offensive line is led by preseason All-American center Bruce Mitchell, a senior who is also a candidate for the Rimington Trophy for a second consecutive season. Mitchell has started every game this season and is backed up by sophomore Trevor Pay.
Other starters for the Cougars in 2026 include tackles Paki Finau, Andrew Gentry, Bott Mulitalo, and Siosiua Latu-Finau. At guard, senior Sonny Makasini has started all five games, while seniors Kyle Sfarcioc and Trevin Ostler have also started at the position.
Other contributors to the unit's success this year include Zak Yamauchi, Joe Brown, and Jr Sia.
The Joe Moore Award was presented by The Foundation for Teamwork and has been awarded since 2015. The award is named after Joe Moore, a former offensive line coach at Notre Dame and Pittsburgh who sent 52 players to the NFL during his 19 seasons in college football.
