Mount Ogden Junior High announced June 10 that teacher Claire Moore has received the Excellence in Teaching Award, an honor determined by votes from peers and the community through the Ogden School Foundation.
Math workshops and interactive games
The school is hosting various summer educational opportunities for students. The Utah Community Math Initiative, a project sponsored by the Utah State Board of Education and conducted by researchers from Rethink Learning Labs, offers free interactive math games and workshops at the Mount Ogden Junior High library on Thursdays from June 11 through July 16.
Credit recovery and meal programs
Academic support continues through the summer break with Summer Bridge 9th Grade Credit Recovery sessions, which were held from June 8 through June 11. Additionally, the Ogden School District's Summer Meals Program, which began June 1, provides free breakfast and lunch to children ages 0 to 18 at various district locations.
Summer swim clinics for students
Other summer activities include weekly swim clinics at the Ben Lomond Community Pool for high school students ages 13 to 18. The clinics, which cost $40 per session, are scheduled for July 11, 18, and 25, as well as August 1, 8, and 15.
School office hours and reminders
The school office remains open for summer business from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The school also issued a reminder that library books are due and fines have been assessed to student accounts.
