This week, students participating in Provo City School District’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) will get to try two colorful and unusual fresh foods: mammoth green grapes and fresh purple asparagus!
Mammoth Green Grapes
These aren’t your average grapes! Mammoth green grapes are especially large, with some growing to nearly the size of a golf ball. They have the familiar sweet, juicy flavor of green grapes in a much bigger package.
Each case contains approximately 100 servings, giving students an opportunity to experience a familiar fruit in a fun and unusually large variety.
Fresh Purple Asparagus
Students will also have the chance to try fresh purple asparagus. Unlike the more common green asparagus, this variety has a deep purple color that makes it easy to spot.
Students will receive one fresh asparagus spear per serving, making it a simple opportunity to taste a vegetable they may not have tried before.
Try Something New with FFVP
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program introduces students to a variety of fresh produce throughout the school year. From familiar favorites to fruits and vegetables that may be completely new, each tasting gives students another opportunity to explore different colors, flavors, and textures.
