More than 70 youth participated in a Saint Carlo Acutis Apostolate rally at Saint Martin de Porres Parish in Taylorsville to kick off the new school year. According to a report by the Intermountain Catholic, the event featured activities including getting-to-know-you Bingo and skits performed by the core team.
Parish administrator Father Robin Cruz expressed satisfaction with the turnout and noted that several youth participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the event. Youth minister Hugo Munguia stated that Adoration was the most impactful part of the rally, observing that many teens found healing through the practice.
One notable change to the rally, which has been running for three years, is the invitation for parents to attend the Mass and Adoration held at the end of the event. During Adoration, Father Gustavo Vidal, the apostolate's spiritual director and pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Layton, leads the youth in offering their struggles to God. Core team member Ashley Magallon noted that this practice helps youth grow closer to their parents and find forgiveness.
Two additional Saint Carlo Acutis Apostolate rallies are scheduled for this year: Oct. 3 at St. James the Greater Parish in Vernal and Nov. 7 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. All youth between the ages of 13-18 are welcome to attend. Additional rallies are planned for the spring.
