Spring Creek will celebrate Día de los Muertos from October 28 through November 6 with a school-wide Ofrenda, according to a report published October 28.
The Día de los Muertos holiday is traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, though other dates like October 31 or November 6 may be included depending on the locality. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and remember deceased friends and family members.
An Ofrenda is a display created for the holiday to honor deceased loved ones. These personal and heartfelt creations may include offerings such as candles, marigolds, favorite foods and drinks, personal belongings, and photos to celebrate lives and memories.
Students wishing to participate in the school-wide Ofrenda may upload a digital copy of a photo of a deceased pet or loved one. Digital submissions are required, and original photos should not be sent to school with students. Photo submissions are due no later than Thursday, October 29.
