Canyon View Elementary has earned a position among the top elementary schools in Utah according to the 2026 rankings from U.S. News and World Report. The school, located in Cottonwood Heights, was recognized in a notice posted to the Canyons School District website on October 27, 2026.
The rankings are based on state test scores, specifically the proportion of students who demonstrated proficiency or above proficiency in reading and math. The methodology weights these scores by both face value and the school's socioeconomic demographics. The report evaluates schools using six factors: College Readiness at 30 percent, State Assessment Proficiency at 20 percent, Underserved Student Performance at 10 percent, College Curriculum Breadth at 10 percent, Graduation Rate at 10 percent, and an additional 20 percent for State Assessment Proficiency.
Canyon View Elementary is one of several schools in the Canyons School District to achieve high rankings. In total, 22 elementary schools and six middle schools within the district were named among the top 40 percent of schools in the state. This follows previous recognition from U.S. News for four traditional high schools within the Canyons District that received "Best in Utah" status.
Canyons School District Superintendent Dr. McKay Robinson stated that the recognition of so many schools reflects a districtwide commitment to student success and academic excellence. Robinson noted that being honored across all grade levels demonstrates the strength built for students from kindergarten through graduation.
Canyon View Elementary is located at 3500 East Bengal Blvd. in Cottonwood Heights. The school maintains office hours from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
