Daily Herald sports writers Darnell Dickson and Brandon C. Gurney released their weekly rankings for Utah Valley high school athletics on September 28. The rankings cover the top five teams in football, girls soccer, and girls volleyball based on records through September 28.
In girls volleyball, Orem holds the number one spot with a 14-3 record after achieving 13 consecutive wins following a sweep of Provo on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026. Provo follows in second at 14-2, while Pleasant Grove is ranked third with an 18-3 record. Skyridge occupies the fourth spot with a 19-4 record, featuring 41 aces from senior Emma White this season. Spanish Fork is ranked fifth with a 12-4 record, led by Macall Condie and Katelyn Ralph.
The girls soccer rankings place Lone Peak at number one with a 12-3 record after taking 10th and 11th consecutive wins over Lehi and Corner Canyon. American Fork is second at 11-3 and seeks to avenge a 6-0 loss to Lone Peak this week. Maple Mountain ranks third at 10-4 after a 3-1 win over Spanish Fork. Timpview is fourth at 8-5, led by Claire Badger's 34 goals, while Lehi is fifth at 9-7.
In football, Skyridge is ranked first with a 6-1 record, highlighted by five interceptions, including two pick sixes, against Corner Canyon. American Fork follows at 6-1 after a finish against Lone Peak. Orem is third with a 4-2 record after a defensive win against Timpview. Springville is fourth at 5-2 and is scheduled to face Timpview in a Region 7 matchup on Friday. Salem Hills ranks fifth at 5-2 following three consecutive wins.
