Aiden Flora has earned several weekly honors following a significant performance against West Virginia, according to a report published October 8. The Iowa State running back was named the Maxwell National Player of the Week on Wednesday, October 8, by the Maxwell Football Club.
Prior to the Maxwell announcement, Flora received several other recognitions. On Tuesday, the Cyclone was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week, and the Burlsworth Trophy Walk-On of the Week. Earlier on Monday, Flora was named the AP National Player of the Week and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
The accolades follow Flora's performance in a 45-42 victory over the Mountaineers last Saturday. During the game, Flora accounted for five touchdowns and 212 rushing yards. His five touchdowns represent the most nationally by any running back in a single game this season. He became the first non-quarterback to record two passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and 200 rushing yards in a single game since 1996.
Flora's statistical impact includes 594 rushing yards on the season, which ranks seventh nationally and second in the Big 12. He is averaging 8.1 yards per carry, a mark that is third best nationally and the best in the Big 12. Additionally, he leads the Big 12 with 157.0 all-purpose yards per game, ranking fourth nationally.
The Adel, Iowa native joined the program as a walk-on in 2024 and was placed on scholarship prior to the 2026 season by head coach Jimmy Rogers. Flora's 212 yards against West Virginia represents his sixth-most rushing yards in a single game in FBS history this season.
The Iowa State Athletics department noted that this story will be updated throughout the week with additional honors and recognitions.
