The Utah Jazz are exercising their third-year option on Ace Bailey but are declining their fourth-year option on Isaiah Collier, according to a report published November 2 by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. These decisions are expected to impact the Utah salary cap sheet next season.
Ace Bailey, a 69'small forward selected fifth overall in the previous draft, will earn slightly under $10 million for the 2027/28 season. During his rookie season, the former Rutgers player averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 blocks while shooting .443 from the field. Through six games this season, Bailey has averaged 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game.
The decision to decline Isaiah Collier's $5 million option for next season comes despite his statistics. The 22-year-old point guard averaged 11.7 points, 7.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game last season. However, advanced metrics showed the Jazz were minus-13.2 per 100 possessions when Collier was on the court, compared to minus-4.8 when he was not playing.
Collier, who was the 29th pick in the 2024 draft, will enter unrestricted free agency this summer. According to Shreyas Laddha of The Salt Lake Tribune, Collier has taken the news well. The Jazz will continue to evaluate the former USC guard during his third year in the league.
The Jazz will have until November 1, 2027, to decide whether to exercise Bailey's fourth-year option.
