A man was killed in an intersection crash in Washington City on Thursday morning. Just before 9 a.m., a white Mercury Mountaineer attempted to turn left from Silver Falls Drive onto southbound Washington Fields Road.
At the same time, a grey Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on Washington Fields Road and entered the Silver Falls Drive intersection. The Ford collided with the driver's side door of the Mercury.
Officers from the Washington City Police Department arrived at the scene and provided aid to the driver of the Mercury, but he died from his injuries.
The deceased has been identified only as a resident of Washington City. According to the Washington City Police Department, it appears the driver of the Mercury did not see the Ford approaching while making the left turn.
The driver of the Ford is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, and no formal charges have been submitted.
North and southbound traffic between 2000 South and Lost Ridge Drive was closed during the investigation but has since reopened. The incident remains under investigation.
