Evacuation orders were expanded early Saturday as a fast-moving fire threatened Logan residents. The Logan City Police Department reported that the evacuation zone was expanded at approximately 12:30 a.m. to a 1.5-mile radius around 600 East and Canyon Road.
The original evacuation order covered a 1-mile radius. Residents located within the expanded zone were instructed to leave immediately and follow directions provided by emergency personnel.
As of 12:30 a.m., police stated that no information regarding fire containment was available.
Evacuees without alternative housing may seek shelter at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at 565 E. 100 North.
Authorities requested that residents do not call 911 for evacuation information unless they are experiencing an emergency. Updates are being distributed through the reverse 911 system, and Cache Valley residents can register for emergency notifications through Everbridge.
