The Davis and Weber Counties Canal Company announced it will shut down its secondary water systems on September 15, 2026. In a notice posted to the Clinton City website, the company cited a hot, dry summer and below-normal snowpack and runoff as reasons for the shutdown.

Some water will remain in the canal to meet planned turnout needs until October 1, 2026, or until an allotment is used.
