According to a June 2 announcement from the Town of Portage, the Town Council scheduled the June 10 hearing to adopt the new fiscal year budget and amend the existing FY 2025-2026 budget. The meeting was held at the Portage Town Hall.
Land use ordinance amendments
The Portage Town Planning Commission also conducted a public hearing on June 10 regarding an amendment to section 115.0 of the town's land use ordinance. The proposed changes involved amending the existing land use regulations, as noted in a June 9 notice.
Emergency access route warning
In a separate update issued June 4, the Portage Fire Department requested that citizens avoid using a temporary emergency access route created during ongoing bridge construction. While the route was left open for rapid emergency response, officials reported that non-emergency vehicles have been using the path.
Treasurer job vacancy announcement
The town also announced an immediate job opening for a treasurer. The position requires a clean, bondable record and working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
