Four men were arrested by law enforcement officers on Saturday afternoon in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl northwest of Cedar City. The incident, which investigators described as a homicide, occurred late Friday night on Midvalley Road.
Iron County Metro SWAT agents executed a search warrant at a townhome located west of Lund Highway, near the intersection of 1650 North and 3200 West, to take three suspects into custody. A fourth suspect was arrested at a workplace later that afternoon, according to Iron County Sheriff Ken Carpenter.
Sheriff Carpenter stated that the victim was the driver of a red pickup truck that was being chased by a suspect's vehicle. The pursuit moved north on Lund Highway before turning west toward the intersection of 4300 West near the Three Peaks Recreation Area. Investigators believe the suspect's vehicle pulled alongside the pickup and fired several rounds into the driver's side, killing the 17-year-old driver.
According to Iron County Jail booking information, Ethan Galloway and Michael Hess-Witucki are being held on suspicion of first-degree felony murder, along with 12 counts of felony discharge of a firearm, obstructing justice, marijuana possession, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person. Matthew Sorber-Petrie and Aldric Felipe were also booked on suspicion of obstructing justice, marijuana possession, and weapon possession charges.
Investigators are continuing to process the crime scene and the involved vehicles. A passenger in the red pickup truck was also injured in the incident. While social media posts have identified the victim as KayLee Dutton, Iron County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mitchell stated the department will not release her name due to her status as a juvenile.
