A small plane crashed in western Missouri on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, state police reported.
The fatalities included a pilot and 11 skydivers, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred near the Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, Missouri. The location is situated approximately one hour south of Kansas City.
The Bates County Sheriff's Office shut down the area following the incident.
